An East Coast native, Alex Feltes is a first year student at the University of Colorado pursuing a Master’s in Journalism with a focus on the environment.
Alex attended St Lawrence University for her undergraduate studies where her curiosity of the natural world only continued to grow. A proud member of the class of 2014 she holds a B.S. in Conservation Biology as well as Global Studies and a minor in African Studies.
For three years Alex lived on Catalina Island, off the coast of LA, working as Marine Biology Instructor, Aquarist, and Social Media Correspondent at the Catalina Island Marine Institute. After leaving the island she moved up the coast towards Central California and worked as a Naturalist at the Coastal Institute. In both these locations Alex took students from all backgrounds on hiking, tide pooling, kayaking, and snorkeling expeditions, bringing their classroom outdoors.
An adventurous soul Alex loves spending as much time outdoors as possible whether it’s skiing, hiking, scuba diving, or sipping on espresso. With a dream of having her own nature documentary show Alex is pursuing Environmental Journalism to continue her mission to connect people with parts of the world they never imagined experiencing!
